About me
Bienvenue. Hoş geldiniz. Welcome to Bridges of Time.
I'm Sarmad Osmany, a wanderer through the corridors of history, a dreamer of harmony, and a student of civilisations, particularly the medieval and Islamic worlds. This blog is the beating heart of a lifelong journey: reconnecting the wisdom of the past with the soul of the present.
Living in Pakistan with Turkic ancestry, my path has always straddled cultures, languages, and epochs. From the call to prayer echoing in old mosques to the awe of Gothic cathedrals piercing the sky, from Konya to Montreal, I’ve felt the invisible threads tying our stories together. That feeling—this sense of shared memory- is what Bridges of Time is all about.
I write to revive the ideas, values, and aesthetics that once helped societies flourish.
Here, I explore:
-
🕌 Timeless Wisdom from Qur’anic thought to Greek philosophy and everything in between
-
🏛️ Sacred Spaces & Civilisations – from Ottoman külliyes and Hagia Sophia to Renaissance Florence
-
📜 Medeniyetler Arası Diyalog – Dialogue across civilisations and faiths
-
🌍 Réflexions Modernes – Reflections on how ancient truths can shape a better future
-
🛤️ A Personal Journey – My quest to build bridges of meaning in a fragmented world
"L’histoire est un miroir."
History is a mirror.
And as the Ottomans once believed: “Geçmiş, geleceğe köprüdür.”
“The past is a bridge to the future.”
Through essays, visual storytelling, public speaking, and cultural reflections, I invite you to walk with me across the köprü—the bridge—between memory and possibility.
Together, let’s revive the echoes of time and build a world guided not by division, but by wisdom, wonder, and peace.
